The “Commandant Blaison” crosses the finish line in Op. SOPHIA deployment and passes the baton to “L’Adroit”
On June 23rd the French #Frigate Commandant Blaison has completed her #OpSophia deployment. On the same day, she has been replaced in her duties by the Offshore Patrol Vessel L’Adroit .
Like her sistership #Blaison, L’Adroit will contribute to enhance #maritime security off Libyan coast and to limit the #weapon #traffic around this country, participating to the #UN arms #embargo in #Libya under the UNSCR 2357 adopted on 12th of June 2017.
In order to attend her specific tasks, #L’Adroit has been reinforced of #sailors and equipment in order to be ready to conduct any kind of maritime #operation off the coast of Libya.
Processing from an innovating collaboration started in 2011 between the #FrenchNavy and the #DCNS, the offshore patrol vessel L’Adroit can accomplish any state mission given to a #patrolship: sea and fishing #surveillance, #coastal sovereignty, #illegal activities #fighting (#immigration, #drug #trafficking, #piracy, etc.), use of #specialforces (with dedicated space and accommodations for 27 additional passengers on board), evacuation and rescue.
