ITS San Giusto: relevant meeting on board the Flagship
On Monday the 16th April 2018 on board the amphibious ship San Giusto, Flag Ship of EUNAVFOR MED – operation Sophia, Operation Commander, Rear Admiral (UH) Enrico Credendino, met the Minister for Internal Affairs and National Security of Malta, Hon. Dr. Michael Farrugia, and the Chief of the Maltese Armed Forces, Brig. Jeffrey Curmi.
During the meeting the Operation Commander and the guests examined different issues, focusing in particular on the effectiveness of the EUNAVFOR MED – operation Sophia in the current international context, deepening the phenomena linked to the human beings trafficking and the oil smuggling at sea, underlining the need for a continuous exchange of information with the law enforcement agencies fielded by the European Union, FRONTEX and EUROPOL.
At the end of the meeting, the Italian ship San Giusto left the port of Valletta to works the area of operations and continue its mission: to patrol and to contribute to disrupt the business model of human smuggling and trafficking networks in the Southern Central Mediterranean and prevent the further loss of life at sea.
