Operation Sophia welcomes the new Flagship
After more than 50 days of deployment in EUNAVFOR MED operation Sophia, the Italian ship Etna is now leaving the operation.
Since her arrival in the area of operations, she has provided a significant support to Sophia, contributing to the core mission of fighting human trafficking and smuggling networks, acting as the Flagship; extremely significant to note the high-level event, such as the visit on board of the Italian Prime Minister and the Defense Minister occurred on the 24th December 2017.
ITS San Giusto replaces ITS Etna, acting as the new EUNAVFOR MED Flagship, operating in the EU task Force for the second time, as she was already involved in the operation from the 04th April to the 31st August 2017.
