Saving lives in the Central Mediterranean Sea

In the early morning of 26 January, following a request from the Italian Maritime Rescue Coordination Center, the Slovenian Patrol Ship TRIGLAV  was tasked to save migrants’ lives together with other units; more than 110 people were recovered from a rubber boat in distress in International Waters and transferred to an Italian Military ship who will sail to the port of disembarkation.

Since the operation launch, last 22ndof June 2015, upon request by the competent Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), EUNAVFOR MED operation Sophia assets have saved more than 8700 lives.
