The Norwegian National Defence College visits EUNAVFOR MED operation Sophia Headquarters
As part of the Norwegian National Defence College study plan, today almost 30 frequenters of the College have visited EUNAVFOR MED operation Sophia 
Headquarters in Rome.
Leaded by Colonel Terje ALVSAKER, Norwegian Défence Attaché, the delegation has been welcomed by Rear Admiral Humeau , EUNAVFOR MED Deputy Operation Commander, who accompanied them throughout the European Headquarters providing a comprehensive briefing that has given the chance to analyze in deep operational, planning and logistic peculiarities of EUNAVFOR MED operation Sophia as well as the results obtained in the first 8 months since the Operation launch last 22ndof June 2015.
Thus far, having entered its second phase in international waters on the 7th of October 2015, the Operation contributed to save more than 9800 people while 51 people have been reported to the Italian Authorities as possible smugglers and 81 boats have been removed from illegal organizations’ availability.
